Abstract

The Bat Virome Archives – Redundant Contigs Resource Description This repository provides the redundant contig set generated during the construction of The Bat Virome Archives v1, a large-scale, uniformly processed collection of bat-associated viral metagenomes. While the main Bat Virome Archives dataset distributes a non-redundant representative contig set (clustered at 95% nucleotide identity over 85% coverage), this resource preserves all original contigs prior to dereplication, including sequence variants collapsed during clustering. The redundant contigs resource enables: recovery of strain-level or intra-sample sequence diversity, inspection of assembly and clustering behaviour, validation of representative contigs, detailed coverage or variant analyses, re-clustering under alternative thresholds. Contents The repository includes: a FASTA file containing all redundant contigs, a mapping table linking each representative contig to the full list of contigs it represents, Relationship to the main dataset This resource is complementary to The Bat Virome Archives v1 Zenodo release.Users interested in standard comparative analyses are encouraged to use the non-redundant contig set provided in the main dataset. This redundant resource is intended for advanced or exploratory analyses requiring access to uncollapsed sequence variants. Usage notes Due to its size, this dataset is intended for targeted analyses rather than routine use. Users should apply appropriate quality filtering and interpret results with caution, particularly when analysing low-abundance contigs or assemblies derived from co-assembly.
