Abstract

The abstract provides an overview of the planned Ph.D. research on “Mechanically alloyed nanostructured carbon nanotube reinforced Ti-Mg-Li Alloy,” which addresses the pressing need for lighter, stronger, and more reliable alloys in advanced industries like aerospace and automotive. The work aims to leverage the unique properties of titanium-magnesium-lithium alloys and the exceptional strength of carbon nanotubes, though challenges remain in achieving uniform CNT dispersion, robust interfacial bonding, and optimal mechanical alloying parameters. A thorough literature survey reveals significant progress in the field but highlights ongoing issues with microstructural control, phase stability, and the translation of theoretical advantages into practical materials. The research is motivated by the potential to bridge these gaps, combining scientific curiosity with societal needs for energy efficiency and materialinnovation. The central problem is to develop a systematic, reproducible process for fabricating CNT-reinforced Ti-Mg-Li alloys with superior strength, ductility, and durability, achieved through meticulous control of material selection, processing, and characterization.
