Abstract

This paper serves as the unedited submission to the Berggruen Essay Competition 2025. It proposes a radical phenomenological solution to The Regress Problem (Agrippa’s Trilemma), The Problem of Induction, and the First Cause. By utilizing Methodological Solipsism and the lived experience of Dissociation, the author argues that Sakshi (Witness Consciousness) serves as the only non-assumptive, non-paradoxical foundation for reality. The paper contests the Cartesian Cogito ("I think, therefore I am") in favor of "I observe, therefore I am," establishing that observation is ontologically primary to cognition. It further develops "Perceptive Recursion" (PR.e), a monistic cosmological framework where reality is a self-observing system, and explores its implications across various fields. The paper introduces "Structural Egoism," an ethical framework derived from the "Solipsistic Veil" rather than the Veil of Ignorance. This work synthesizes Advaita Vedanta with Western epistemology to establish the observer as the fundamental ground of existence. The writing style intentionally honors the competition's invocation of Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Michel de Montaigne, and Ralph Waldo Emerson—favoring authentic, personal, and "erratic" philosophical discourse over standardized academic prose.
