Abstract

This record contains the preprint Between-Person Structure and Situational Expression in Self-Regulation: A Preregistered Multi-Design Study and its supplementary materials. The manuscript examines a central personality question within self-regulation: whether relatively stable between-person structure can be distinguished from situational variation in expression. Across three independent datasets spanning daily diary, ecological momentary assessment (EMA), and cross-sectional designs, the study tests whether recurring between-person structure can be identified with load excluded from class formation, and whether stress-related variation is better understood as situational expression within that structure rather than as systematic structural change. Supplementary materials include additional methodological details, model-selection tables for candidate profile solutions, retained-solution summaries, H2 slope estimates and pairwise comparisons, and figures illustrating model fit and classification patterns across datasets.
