New aviation safety model /
Abstract
Short Abstract This paper proposes a new aviation safety model that fundamentally redefines aircraft accidents from uncontrollable crashes to managed emergency landings. Conventional aviation safety has focused primarily on accident prevention, while lacking a systematic framework for minimizing damage once an accident becomes unavoidable. The proposed model integrates four key components: a Global Belly Landing Map (GBLM) generated by satellite imagery and AI to pre-identify safe belly-landing sites worldwide; a Co-Landing System in which AI and pilots collaboratively select and navigate to optimal landing locations; aircraft survival cell designs optimized for belly landings; and a proactive ground response framework enabling pre-arrival rescue deployment and civilian evacuation. By analyzing historical accident data, the study demonstrates that a large proportion of fatal accidents could be transformed into survivable events under this architecture. The model is designed to be implementable using existing technologies and regulatory extensions, offering a realistic pathway toward a new global standard in aviation safety for the next century. https://orcid.org/0009-0003-1530-4234 Matsuoka × GPT Thought-Experiment Lab Japanese Abstract
