Female. Taiwanese specimens not examined. Described in Tolkanitz (1981 b) and Konishi (1996 a). Distribution. Russia (Promorskii Krai [type locality] (Tolkanitz 1981 b)), Japan (Honshu, Shikoku, Kyushu (Konishi 1996 a)), Taiwan (new record: Nantou, Hualien, Chiayi). Bionomics. This species was collected from the mountains between the elevation 1320–2400 m in Taiwan. This new record extends the distribution of an eastern Palearctic species to the mountain areas of a subtropical region. Remarks. Despite minor variations in general morphology and male genitalia observed between the Taiwanese and eastern Palearctic specimens, these differences are considered intraspecific variation. For instance, the lateral carina extends beyond the anterior 0.8 in Russian and Taiwanese specimens but only reaches 0.8 in Japanese specimens (Konishi 1996 a), and the brace is narrower in Taiwanese specimens but broader in Japanese and Russian specimens (Tolkanitz 1981 b; Konishi 1996 a). This species can be assigned to the N. (Paro.) barberi species group based on the brownish mesosoma without any distinctive yellow marking and lateral carina of scutellum extending beyond 0.7 of its length.
