On the riddle of Cosmic Gas: Photon Propagation in a Stochastic Modulus Background: A Testable Effective Field Theory
Abstract
We develop and expand a minimal effective-field-theory framework describing photonpropagation through a weakly coupled stochastic scalar sector (a “modulus” field) motivatedby geometric degrees of freedom arising from higher-dimensional compactifications or emergentmoduli of a vacuum manifold. Our work supplies detailed derivations, a dynamical-systemsperspective, concrete self-energy computations in the Gaussian approximation, parameterestimation recipes for astrophysical tests (fast radio bursts, pulsar timing, and polarizationsurveys), and a theorem of how such an effective sector could relate to Cosmic Gas anddark matter phenomenology. We delve into the potential relationship with supersymmetry(SUSY), mirror symmetry, and how the Langlands framework may serve as bridge(s) betweenarithmetic (or geometric) and spectral diagnostics. Emphasis is on falsifiability
