Transchromatic Equivalence in Stable Homotopy Theory and the Geometry of the Lubin-Tate Tower
Abstract
This monograph establishes a rigorous correspondence between transchromatic phenomena in the stable homotopy category SH and the rigid analytic geometry of the Lubin-Tate tower. We investigate the descent properties of the Morava E-theory sheaf OEn over the moduli stack of formal groups MFG, focusing on the interface between chromatic heights n and n-1. By invoking the Gross-Hopkins period map, we construct a spectral sequence that converges to the transchromatic localization of the sphere spectrum, effectively geometrizing the "Blue Shift" phenomenon. Furthermore, we prove a generalized form of Gross-Hopkins duality for the relative Lubin-Tate spectra, providing a cohomological interpretation of the monochromatic layers in terms of coherent duality on the deformation space. These results elucidate the structural ambidexterity inherent in the K(n)-local category.
