The Charter of Government and Constitution of Human Rights from Imam Ali's Perspective
Abstract
This book presents a normative analysis of Letter 53 of Nahj al-Balagha, attributed to Imam Ali ibn Abi Talib, examining its principles of governance, justice, and human rights. Addressed to Malik al-Ashtar upon his appointment as governor of Egypt, the letter articulates an ethical framework for political authority grounded in justice, accountability, equality before the law, and the protection of human dignity. By situating this text within the fields of political philosophy, constitutional thought, and human rights discourse, the study demonstrates its enduring relevance to contemporary discussions of ethical governance and social justice. The book contributes to comparative perspectives on constitutionalism and offers insights for scholars of human rights and Islamic political thought.
