Abstract

Version 2 is a full revision of the January 2026 preprint. Outcome: negative result — the point-interaction construction provably cannot realize the Hilbert–Pólya program. (i) The operator is non-negative with purely repulsive couplings, so it has no eigenvalues at all; (ii) the aggregate coupling Σ 2Λ(n)/√n diverges (~4√X), so the Birman–Krein/Marchenko framework of Version 1 does not apply; (iii) position information enters only through multiple-scattering orbits at frequencies 2|log(p^m/q^n)| with amplitudes involving the second derivative of the test function — not the Riemann–Weil prime terms; (iv) the archimedean density grows logarithmically while the free density is constant. Several statements of Version 1 marked as rigorous are corrected (explicit-formula constants, verified numerically to twelve digits; point-evaluation bound; self-adjointness argument). The Main Theorem of Version 1 is withdrawn. An errata table maps every affected statement of Version 1 to its status; all numerical checks are reproducible from the accompanying scripts (check_ef.py, check_div.py).
