Emergence Is Confined: Empirical Limits on Post–Emergent Structure
Abstract
This repository contains the manuscript and reproducible analysis code for the paper“Emergence Is Confined: Empirical Limits on Post–Emergent Structure.” The study presents a fully data–driven structural analysis of emergence in multifractal asymmetry space using the Unified Temporal–Measurement Framework (UTMF v5.2), Fractal Asymmetry Theory (FAT), and Emergence Depth (ED). Using a single archived UTMF v5.2 FULL_DETAILS JSON snapshot containing subset–level multifractal outputs, we reconstruct dataset–level FAT vectors and compute Emergence Depth (ED₅₀) and post–emergent hierarchical path metrics for an ensemble of 108 datasets (78 empirical and 30 synthetic). The central result is that emergence in FAT space is structurally confined. All empirical and synthetic systems occupy a single bounded compatibility region relating emergence depth to post–emergent structural mass. No admissible configurations are observed outside this empirically defined envelope. Synthetic datasets neither expand this region nor perturb the hierarchical ordering of empirical systems. Systematic ablation and reciprocal insertion experiments demonstrate a strong asymmetry of influence: empirical structure constrains synthetic emergence, while the inclusion or removal of synthetic systems leaves empirical hierarchical order invariant. Both global hierarchy and local FAT–space density are shown to be robust under forced emergence. All figures and quantitative results reported in the paper are reproduced deterministically from the archived metadata using the provided analysis script. No reprocessing of raw data, no UTMF reruns, and no parameter fitting are required.
