Structural Necessity and Pre-Geometric Causality Why Certain Mathematical Structures Are Required by Physics Before Spacetime
Abstract
This paper presents a mechanism-first, non-mathematical argument showing that mass, inertia, and causal consistency are not primitive properties but necessary consequences of finite signal propagation, locality, and conservation laws. By stripping away geometric assumptions and focusing on operational causality, it demonstrates that any universe with a speed limit must enforce global consistency through delayed internal synchronization, giving rise to inertia and mass. The work further argues that spacetime geometry is a representational layer built to satisfy these causal constraints, not the source of them, and uses “Ramanujan-type” non-geometric consistency structures as illustrative examples of how global coherence can exist without explicit spatial construction. No new physics is proposed; the paper clarifies what established physics already requires.
