Striped Flint and Bennettitales. Terrestrial Flora in the "Heart" of Striped Flint: A Unique Find of Bennettitales from the Ożarów-Śródborze Region (Poland)
Abstract
This paper documents a sensational find of macroscopic terrestrial flora (Bennettitales) trapped within banded flint from the Ożarów-Śródborze region, Poland. The discovery provides unique evidence for rapid silicification of organic matter in a marine basin and suggests a Cretaceous (Turonian) origin of the specimens.
