When the Square Touches the Circle Generalized Resonant Contact Across Scale A Structural Extension of Resonant Compatibility and Multidimensional Psychological Architecture
Abstract
Previous work on resonant compatibility articulated the structural conditions under which a dyadic partner can couple with a self-led psychological system without eroding coherence. However, compatibility is not limited to romantic or interpersonal structures. Across psychological, relational, creative, cultural, and ecological domains, self-led systems routinely interface with external structures that either stabilize circulation or precipitate collapse. This paper generalizes the Resonant Compatibility Model into a scale-agnostic Circle–Square contact framework. The Circle represents a self-led system organized around the minimal feedback loop I am → I choose → I continue. The Square represents any external structure capable of sustained contact with the Circle without assuming regulatory authority. Contact is shown to require shared resonance constraints and inverted secondary context. Importantly, the Circle does not select a single Square and remain fixed. Multiple Squares may coexist or rotate over time, forming a coherent 7D ecosystem when structural conditions are respected. Failure of these conditions explains capture, depletion, cultic organization, and premature collapse across domains. This framework extends compatibility theory beyond partnership while preserving agency, exit, and temporal renegotiability as non-negotiable architectural requirements.
