GEODETIC ANALYSIS OF LANDSLIDE RISK IN KAZAKHSTAN USING ARCGIS
Abstract
The mountainous regions in southeastern Kazakhstan are characterized by high landslide susceptibility. High populated areas in the low and foothill zones, where natural and anthropogenic conditions increase the occurrence of landslides, are particularly vulnerable to damage with human loss. The use of a combination of the traditional field-oriented method and the application of remote sensing and GIS to assist planning and management processes is considered as the most representative way to study local landslides. The final result is a table that consolidates all recommendations for each landslide-prone area.
