For patients with both atrial fibrillation and coronary heart disease, is it necessary to prescribe both oral anticoagulants and platelet inhibitors?
Abstract
While oral anticoagulant monotherapy is often comparable to combination therapy with aspirin in patients with atrial fibrillation and stable coronary artery disease, and offers a reduced bleeding risk, patient-specific factors and risk profiles should guide treatment choices. Guidelines continue to evolve to address these complex cases.
