The Physical Necessity Constraints Governing the Rongorongo Script A Constraint-First Determination from Established Physical Law
Abstract
This theory applies established physical laws—thermodynamics, material degradation, energy conservation, signal stability, and noise accumulation—to determine what kinds of information systems are physically possible for the Rongorongo inscriptions. By using a constraint-first, physics-only method and avoiding linguistic or cultural assumptions, it shows that Rongorongo cannot function as a high-information, scalable writing system. Instead, physical necessity restricts it to a low-information, closed-loop encoding whose state resolution depends on coupling to external physical variables rather than internal symbolic complexity. The result is a definitive elimination of entire classes of interpretations based on physical admissibility alone.
