Galilean Moons as Long-Baseline Space-Phase Probes: A Reanalysis Proposal
Abstract
The eclipses of Jupiter’s Galilean moons historically enabled the first quantitativemeasurement of the finite speed of light. Modern eclipse timing catalogs now spancenturies with precisions unimaginable to early astronomers. This paper proposes that thesame dataset can be reinterpreted as a long-baseline probe of space-phase behavior underthe SP3 framework, which treats space as a dynamic, history-dependent medium ratherthan a purely geometric backdrop. We outline a concrete null-test contrasting memorylesslight propagation with SP3 predictions, identifying observational signatures—particularlyhysteresis and path-history dependence—that can be sought in existing eclipse timingarchives without new instrumentation.
