Abstract
What troubles or burns or consumes you, inside out, that gives NO peace or rest in mind-body-heart ? ? ? We have been running and running and running . . . since birth itself. We run whole life, for the sake of fulfillment and yet, most exit frustrated, delusional and grief stricken, in misery! Some fulfillment here or there . . . This craving / hunger / thirst, the UNCONTROLLED FIRE of which, burns your senses, mind and body, makes you run, ever, ever and ever . . . moment after moment, morning to evening, day by day, week by week, month by month, year by year! YOU JUST RUN! And NOT ONLY in this life, you have been running in past lives also, as Siddhartha ran, and you will be running in future life times to come also, while burning yourself in craving and aversion / hunger / thirst, of this or that, fulfillment! In the KHUDDAKANIKAYA, DHAMMAPADA VERSES OF DHAMMA 146-156, JARAVAGGA (CHAPTER ON DECAY, 11), VISAKHAYASAHAYIKANAMVATTHU, UDANAVATTHU . . . Siddhartha himself acknowledges - Anekajatisamsaram, sandhavissam anibbisam Transmigrating or moving in circles, through countless births and rebirths in different genealogy . . . while running through / transmirgrating, not finding . . . Gahakaram gavesanto, dukkha jati punappunam! looking for the house builder (the one who builds on the craving / hunger / thirst, in the body) . . . again and again, the countless births and rebirths in different genealogy, were fraught with pain / entailing sorrow or trouble / unpleasant / causing misery! Same is our case! Each one of us have been running and runing and running . . . And this run has been happening for many life times, which we might not even remember! In that madness, we run, irrespective of the gender, we run in madness and delusion and die grief stricken . . . Now there is a way out, though long is the journey! Here, i explain in slight detail two aspects that might help anyone in the journey of life, TO AT LEAST ASSUAGE that fire that make your run to SOME EXTENT . . . One is the practice of the Tongue seal or Jivha-Mudda / Khecari-Mudra (in Pali/Sanskrit) a practical method, that can be used in day to day life in MODERATION or ie. Majjhima Patipada / the Middle Way/Path. And Second, is the practice of being content in heart from day to day! For this one has to meditate and also inculcate that contentment within one's own heart! Hope it helps!
