Abstract

A retrospective analysis of breast ultrasound examinations was conducted in 1189 women aged 35-50 years. Pathological changes were detected in 37% of cases (n=440). The most common findings were cysts – 46.7% (n=205) and mastopathy – 34.5% (n=152). The prevalence of pathologies increased with age: from 33% in the 35-40 age group to 43% in the 45-50 age group. In younger women, mastopathy and fibroadenomas (12.5%) were more frequent, whereas in older patients cysts predominated (up to 52%). The results confirm the high diagnostic value of ultrasound for the early detection of breast diseases.
