Oak Island, Nova Scotia Lot 26: The Forest Wharf
Abstract
Lot 26 on Oak Island, Nova Scotia, contains a series of structural and landscape features suggestive of a secondary wharf or maritime landing area. While widely overlooked in favor of Smith’s Cove, Lot 26 demonstrates careful site selection, construction, and integration with inland logistical features, including storage areas, stone walkways, and drainage systems. This study evaluates the Forest Wharf as part of a broader operational system, offering insights into pre-industrial engineering practices, site planning, and resource management on Oak Island.
