Cosmic Acceleration as an Accumulation–Dissipation Imbalance
Abstract
Cosmic acceleration is commonly attributed to a cosmological constant or a dynamical dark energy component, yet recent large-scale structure results motivate renewed examination of whether acceleration reflects an evolving dynamical state rather than a fixed property. This note introduces a dimensionless imbalance indicator derived directly from the cosmological acceleration equation, expressing the ratio of repulsive to attractive contributions governing the expansion dynamics. The indicator is algebraically equivalent to the acceleration condition and reframes late-time acceleration as a sustained accumulation–dissipation imbalance. Applied diagnostically, the framework accommodates evolving dark energy parametrizations over observationally relevant redshift ranges without invoking new mechanisms or modifying standard cosmological equations. The contribution is intended as a state-based interpretive lens that complements existing models rather than a predictive or mechanistic proposal.
