Abstract

Title The Hermetic Barrier: A Double-Wall Containment (DWC) Architecture for Safe AI Data Center Liquid Cooling Description / Abstract This repository contains the manuscript and conceptual schematic for the "Hermetic Barrier," a deterministic safety architecture designed to eliminate hydraulic risk in high-density AI data centers. As rack power densities exceed 120kW, the transition to direct-to-chip liquid cooling is hindered by the risk of fluid egress onto high-value IT assets.1 This work proposes a Double-Wall Containment (DWC) system that envelopes the entire primary cooling loop—including piping, heat exchangers, and server interfaces—within a hermetically sealed, Nitrogen-charged interstitial space. Key Technical Contributions: Deterministic Safety Model: Shifting from reactive leak detection to a passive, physics-based containment strategy. Interstitial Monitoring: Utilizing the Ideal Gas Law ($PV=nRT$) for sub-second leak detection via pressure transducers within the secondary jacket. System Architecture: Integration of double-wall plate heat exchangers (PHE) and instrumented containment sleeves for server-level protection. Sustainability Impact: Enabling the secure adoption of warm-water, chiller-free cooling to achieve ultra-low PUE ($
