Abstract

English Description This paper examines a critical theological problem within the Pauline epistles, centered on Paul’s statement in 1 Corinthians 7:40: “I think that I too have the Spirit of God.” Using an internal textual-critical and structural theological methodology, the study deliberately avoids later ecclesiastical councils and systematic patristic theology in order to assess the internal coherence of Pauline concepts of revelation, authority, and the Spirit. The analysis demonstrates that this verse presents a fundamental theological dilemma: either the “Spirit of God” is understood as implying a form of participatory divine authority that challenges the uniqueness of Christ, or it functions as a non-hypostatic, mediating agent of inspiration consistent with early Jewish monotheism. In both cases, the passage reveals unresolved structural tensions within early Pauline theology, suggesting a transitional theological framework rather than a fully developed Trinitarian system.
