Why Humans Split A Philosophical Inquiry into Fear, Identity, and Conditional Unity
Abstract
Why Humans Split A Philosophical Inquiry into Fear, Identity, and Conditional Unity Author: Hippie or Hippy Abstract Human history is marked by endless division: tribes, nations, religions, ideologies, and even families fracture despite their shared need for belonging. This paper argues that most human unity is not rooted in love or shared being, but in conditional alignment—whether against a common enemy, toward shared profit, or through mutual fear of loss. At the deepest level, humans do not primarily fear scarcity; they fear betrayal—the pain of being the one who trusted while others took. When safety is absent, fear reshapes behavior into competition, domination, and sometimes cruelty. When safety is present, cooperation becomes natural.
