The Adjacency Lemma: The Interface–Authority Boundary
Abstract
This document formalizes the structural boundary between inference and authority by integrating Interface Theory with the E–H–S Nucleus. It demonstrates that normative permission to act cannot be derived from perceptual or diagnostic representations, even if those representations were fully veridical. Authority is shown to exist only as an explicit declaration at the interface–action adjacency boundary, establishing the Interface–Authority snap as a necessary structural condition rather than a design choice.
