Architectural–Cognitive Theory of Self-Conservative Systems: Dynamics of Fixation, Loss of Adaptivity, and the Emergence of New Levels of Organization. Self-Conservation as an Evolutionary–Cognitive Mechanism: Dynamics of Stasis and the Emergence of New Forms
Abstract
This work develops an architectural–cognitive theory of self-conservative systems — configurations that lose adaptive capacity by reallocating resources toward fixation and defensive stabilization. Drawing on interdisciplinary evidence (biology, cognitive science, social theory, and the history of science), the study demonstrates that self-conservation is a universal mechanism of stasis emerging when a system violates the fundamental principle of dynamic structures: the necessity of continuous self-renewal. The model introduces five core parameters (adaptive plasticity, fixation level, fear intensity, environmental change rate, and resource allocation) and formalizes a self-reinforcing cycle of stasis. Self-conservation is shown not as a defect or anomaly but as a form of systemic self-regulation: configurations that cease adapting naturally transfer the adaptive function to newly emerging organizational levels. An integral metric (ICS) and a set of threshold conditions are proposed to diagnose fixation, predict transitions toward irreversible stasis, and distinguish real external threats from threats generated internally by the system. The model is applicable to the analysis of individual cognition, social institutions, scientific paradigms, and complex biological systems.
