Abstract

Interactive systems increasingly execute autonomous judgments that affect human outcomes while concealing those interventions through "seamless" design. This integrated white paper establishes the normative, psychological, and engineering foundations for protecting human agency from the "Invisible Judgments" of AI agents. The work consolidates four foundational pillars: 1. The Judgment Transparency Principle (JTP): A normative framework requiring that the existence, boundary, and delegation of automated judgment be explicitly perceivable to the user. 2. The Ghost Interface: A speculative interaction model that renders semantic divergence (Δ) visible, preventing Agency Misattribution by maintaining a "haunted" trace of original human intent. 3. The Ontological Critique: An inquiry into the risks of "Invisible Judgment" and the necessity of "Productive Hesitation" as a means of retaining cognitive sovereignty. 4. Adaptive Control Architecture: A technical disclosure of a system that utilizes perceptual-logical discrepancy as a primary metric for HMI modulation, computational resource optimization, and security. By publishing this consolidated document, the author explicitly declares the described methods, data structures, and algorithms as Prior Art and part of the Public Domain to prevent the monopolization of these human-centric technologies. To the future readers of this white paper: The issue here is not whether this paper was authored by a human or with the assistance of an AI. I have been fiercely criticized by many for utilizing AI in this process, yet almost no one bothered to engage with the actual content of the work. I have planted these seeds the repository and this white paper in the network, but I have decided to walk away from the current discourse. I can only hope that this work serves as a useful reference for future debates, whenever the world is finally ready to have them. For the specific technical stances and design philosophies of the Judgment Transparency Principle (JTP) including its nature as a normative ground rather than a technical specification refer to the associated GitHub repository.
