Abstract

Recent observations from the Dark Energy Spectroscopic Instrument (DESI DR2), combined with CMB and Type Ia supernova data, reveal a growing preference for dynamical dark energy exhibiting "phantom crossing"—the equation of state parameter w traversing the -1 boundary. This observation poses a fundamental challenge: canonical scalar fields (quintessence) cannot cross this divide without catastrophic instabilities (the No-Go Theorem), yet combined datasets increasingly favor such crossing at 2.6–3.9σ significance. We demonstrate that the Coherence Field (C-field) framework, established in Paper XIV-A, provides a natural resolution. The C-field's non-Markovian memory structure (N1 signature), combined with its topological protection mechanism (N2), enables stable phantom crossing without ghost instabilities. We derive explicit predictions: crossing redshift z_c ≈ 0.5, transition width Δz ≈ 0.2, and a distinctive asymmetry where late-time deviations exceed early-time deviations by ~10×. Remarkably, the framework simultaneously addresses three major cosmological tensions: (1) the Hubble tension (~9%), (2) phantom crossing dynamics, and (3) the S₈/growth tension (~5%)—all through a single coherence mechanism controlled by the universal parameter α ≈ 1.3 × 10⁻⁴. This is Paper XIV-B of the Radial Coherential Dynamics Series, applying the C-field to cosmology.
