A Conceptual Architecture for Enhanced Survivability of Electric. Vehicle Battery Packs
Abstract
This repository contains a conceptual research paper proposing a system-level architecture to improve the survivability of electric vehicle (EV) battery packs under mechanical, electrical, and environmental stress conditions. The work focuses on architectural design philosophy rather than validated performance, emphasizing impulse redistribution, sacrificial impact response, electrical isolation, layered failure containment, and preservation of existing vehicle clearance envelopes. The proposed framework is intentionally qualitative and exploratory. It does not introduce optimized dimensions, calibrated materials, experimental results, or compliance claims. Instead, it aims to frame research questions and early-stage design thinking relevant to EV battery safety, system robustness, and failure containment under real-world road hazards such as debris strikes, water ingress, and localized impacts. The manuscript is intended for researchers, engineers, and designers interested in early-phase concept development, system architecture, and survivability-oriented design in electric mobility platforms.
