METODE REWARD DAN PUNISHMENT DALAM PEMBENTUKAN KARAKTER DISIPLIN SANTRI PUTRI DI PONDOK PESANTREN MODERN DAARUL MUTTAQIEN 2 TANGERANG
Abstract
This study aims to examine the application of reward and punishment methods in shaping the discipline of female students at the Daarul Muttaqien 2 Modern Islamic Boarding School in Tangerang. Discipline character formation is one of the main focuses in the education system at Pondok Pesantren Modern Daarul Muttaqien 2 Tangerang. The reward and punishment method is used as a behavioral development strategy for female students in their daily lives. Rewards are given as a form of appreciation for discipline and obedience, while punishments are applied to provide deterrent effects for rule violations. However, in practice, problems such as unfair punishment by certain student leaders have led to social jealousy. This situation highlights the importance of examining the effectiveness of this method in shaping disciplinary character. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques including observation, interviews, and documentation. To ensure data validity, source and method triangulation techniques were applied. The results show that the reward and punishment method significantly contributes to shaping students’ discipline, particularly in terms of responsibility, rule compliance, and time management. Rewards serve as positive motivation, while proportionally applied punishments increase students' self-awareness. The success of this method largely depends on the consistency, fairness, and exemplary behavior of student leaders and educators in its implementation.
