Abstract

This qualitative thesis examines the political resurgence, legal strategies, and governance implications of the Marcos family in the Philippines, culminating in Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr.'s election to the presidency in 2022. The paper explores the structural vulnerabilities within Philippine constitutional, electoral, and judicial systems that allowed an entrenched political family to achieve political rehabilitation and power consolidation despite a history of human rights abuses, political suppression, and corruption documented during the Martial Law era.
