Analytical worksheet models for the development of intercultural pragmatic competence: A didactic application to the TV series 'Türkisch für Anfänger'
Abstract
Analytical worksheets developed as supplementary and methodological material for the research published in Aproximación al análisis de la cultura. Un ejemplo práctico: Türkisch für Anfänger en Estereotipos y pragmática intercultural en la pantalla (Peter Lang, 2023, 127-179). These worksheets are specifically designed for the analysis of the German television series Türkisch für Anfänger, serving as a practical instrument for the identification and study of cultural and pragmatic elements.Activity 1: Lexical-Semantic Characterization and Archetypal Profiling This activity focuses on the taxonomic attribution of personality traits and socio-cultural identifiers to the protagonists. It facilitates a deep analysis of lexical-semantic fields related to characterization, allowing researchers and students to identify how intercultural stereotypes and individual identities are constructed through descriptive language in the target language. Activity 1 (Variation): Guided Lexical Mapping with Graded Adjectival Corpus: This variant introduces a controlled linguistic environment through a curated list of German adjectives. The instrument is designed to be scalable, incorporating lexical tokens that range from basic proficiency to advanced levels. This allows the analytical task of archetypal profiling to be accessible to learners with lower language levels while still fostering the identification of complex socio-cultural identifiers. By providing a graded corpus, the activity ensures that the study of intercultural pragmatics and character construction remains methodologically rigorous across different educational stages.Examples: Basic Traits: Nett, lustig, klug, streng, glücklich, traurig, jung, alt, groß, klein, ruhig, laut, gut, schlecht, freundlich, unfreundlich, sportlich, faul, aktiv, passiv. Personality & Behavior: Mutig, feige, ehrlich, unehrlich, direkt, diskret, ordentlich, chaotisch, ernst, locker, geduldig, ungeduldig, offen, verschlossen, selbstbewusst, unsicher, höflich, unhöflich. Complex Identifiers: Konservativ, liberal, emanzipiert, traditionsbewusst, religiös, provokant, emanzipiert, weltoffen, stur, impulsiv, zielstrebig, sensibel, nachdenklich, arrogant. Activity 2: Syntagmatic Narrative Sequencing and Structural Analysis This module is dedicated to the diachronic reconstruction of the audiovisual plot. By requiring the chronological organization of narrative milestones, the activity promotes the structural analysis of the discourse, fostering cognitive skills necessary for understanding the logic of communicative events and the evolution of conflict resolution within a multicultural setting .
