Production Line II — Noise: The Forbidden Word
Abstract
Production Line II — Noise is a conceptual artwork that investigates the figure of the idiot as the last irreducibly human condition in an era dominated by optimization, performance metrics, and artificial intelligence. Drawing from contemporary philosophy — particularly the critique of performance society — this work proposes that only a human being can truly be an idiot: capable of rest, contemplation, uselessness, and non-instrumental existence. Artificial intelligence, by its very structure, cannot occupy this position. The image depicts a solitary human figure in stillness, gazing at the night sky in a peripheral, non-productive landscape. This posture of inactivity functions as an ontological refusal: a form of resistance against acceleration, efficiency, and cognitive exploitation. Noise, in this context, is not interference but presence. It is the remainder that cannot be optimized, quantified, or automated. This work is part of the Noise series and integrates the XChronos conceptual framework, treating the artwork not as an object of aesthetic consumption, but as a registered event in time — a symbolic interruption within the logic of production.
