The Densification Imperative: Gravitational Collapse as Optimal Processing Architecture.
Abstract
We propose a physically constrained end-state attractor for advanced civilizationsby formulating “civilizational destiny” as a constrained optimization under (i) finitesignal speed (c), (ii) irreversible thermodynamic cost (Landauer), (iii) heat-rejectionlimits (Stefan–Boltzmann), (iv) quantum speed limits, and (v) relativistic redshiftnear compact configurations. Within the MetaTime framework—where macroscopicevolution is interpreted as Latency-to-Execution conversion mediated by aprocessing flux Q—we define a coherence-limited processing rate Q_coh throttled bylight-speed latency across a coherent diameter D_core, while the sustainableoperation rate N_ops is bounded by the requirement to export entropy through aradiating envelope of diameter D_rad. We derive scaling bounds showing that, insteady state, irreversible throughput scales primarily with radiator area and outertemperature, whereas coherent integration scales with core diameter. Thisseparation naturally selects Matrioshka-like shell architectures: compact, hot,high-density compute cores coupled to large, cold radiators that emit low-contrastwaste heat. Incorporating gravitational time dilation yields an internal–external“clock bifurcation”: subjective processing can be large relative to external cosmictime, while external luminosity and temperature are redshift-suppressed. Theframework provides a conservative, physics-grounded resolution of the Fermiparadox: advanced civilizations may be cosmologically introverted—densified, cold, and observationally stealthy as a consequence of thermodynamic and relativisticoptimality.
