Abstract

The large-scale structure of the universe exhibits coherence, persistence, and hierarchythat are often described using language suggestive of purpose, optimization, or hiddenagency. In the Space-Phase (SP3) framework, such interpretations are unnecessary. Thispaper argues that cosmic order emerges through feedback that produces structure withoutintent. Space, treated as a phase-bearing medium, is conditioned by repeated matter–energy use and subsequently constrains which future arrangements remain dynamicallypermitted. This reciprocal process—arrangement conditioning space and conditionedspace supervising arrangement—produces learning-like behavior without cognition, goals,or optimization. The resulting universe exhibits memory, irreversibility, and selection bypermission rather than reward. By explicitly separating structure from intent, SP3 providesa coherent explanation for cosmic organization while avoiding teleological interpretations.
