The Scalar Temporal Field Ontology: A Unified Framework for Quantum Measurement
Abstract
This paper presents the Scalar Temporal Field Ontology (STFO) as a unified and conservative framework for quantum measurement. Rather than modifying quantum dynamics or introducing new stochastic laws, STFO treats time as a strictly monotonic scalar field τ(x) that induces an objective foliation of physical histories. The paper synthesizes four complementary results: (i) probability as τ-sampling yielding the Born rule, (ii) outcome definiteness as temporal decoherence, (iii) entanglement as shared temporal history, and (iv) quantum randomness as coarse-grained access to temporal microstructure. Together, these results provide a complete account of quantum measurement that preserves global unitarity and all empirical predictions of quantum mechanics. The framework explicitly respects Bell’s theorem, Gleason’s theorem, the Kochen–Specker theorem, the no-communication theorem, and the Conway–Kochen Free Will Theorem, while achieving ontological parsimony relative to branching or hidden-variable interpretations.
