Gravity as Temporal Flow Geometry in the Scalar Temporal Field Ontology
Abstract
This paper presents a conservative reinterpretation of gravity within the Scalar Temporal Field Ontology (STFO), in which time is treated as a physical, strictly monotonic scalar field τ(x). Rather than modifying General Relativity or introducing new gravitational dynamics, the framework identifies gravitational phenomena with spatial variation in temporal flow. Local clock rates and free-fall trajectories are shown to be governed by the gradient ∇μτ, reproducing gravitational time dilation, geodesic motion, and the Newtonian limit. Free-falling paths extremize progression along τ, providing the STFO analogue of the Principle of Maximum Proper Time. Spacetime curvature is interpreted as emergent geometry encoding the structure of temporal flow. All empirical predictions of General Relativity are preserved. The work introduces no new coupling constants, field equations, or deviations from relativistic causality, and serves as a conceptual bridge between the STFO quantum measurement framework and classical gravity.
