Calibration A Physical Process for Scale Transfer
Abstract
This paper defines calibration strictly as a physical process, independent of convention, agreement, or interpretation. Using only established physics, calibration is identified as the dissipative coupling of a measuring system to an invariant physical process, through which scale is transferred and stabilized within the system. By grounding calibration in physical causation, stability, and material symmetry, the paper clarifies how measurement scale exists as an objective property of physical systems rather than a procedural or human-defined construct.
