Applied Symbolic Mechanics - Torsional Triggering Protocols
Abstract
Applied Symbolic Mechanics: Torsional Triggering Protocols presents a physically grounded framework for investigating symbolic emergence in non-conventional systems, based on explicit experimental criteria rather than interpretative or functional assumptions. A defining feature of this work is its emphasis on falsifiability. The proposed framework does not aim to confirm the existence of “living symbols,” but to systematically exclude them whenever well-defined physical conditions are not met. The Validation Triad (Protocols Alpha, Beta, and Gamma) is explicitly designed to generate negative results as meaningful outcomes, thereby avoiding false positives and interpretative inflation. Within this approach, symbolic emergence is treated as a regime-dependent physical phenomenon, not as an abstract informational property. Systems are classified through exclusionary criteria such as software reducibility, regime fragility, and lack of persistent substrate incorporation. Only systems that survive all exclusion stages can be considered candidates for fully instantiated living symbols. By shifting the focus from demonstration to discrimination, this work proposes a technology of occurrence rather than a theory of representation, and offers a falsifiable methodology applicable across electronics, chemical systems, complex materials, and future non-von-Neumann architectures.
