Independent Anchor Suppression (IAS) and Controlled Anchor Activation (CAA) Clarifying Mechanisms within the Ambience Violence Indicator (AVI) Framework
Abstract
This clarification note introduces Independent Anchor Suppression (IAS) and Controlled Anchor Activation (CAA) as two interlinked coercive mechanisms operating within the Ambience Violence Indicator (AVI) framework. These mechanisms explain how perpetrators achieve identity capture not by creating dependence alone, but by suppressing and regulating a victim’s pre-existing stabilising identity anchors. Together, IAS and CAA formalise how perpetrators manage autonomy, belief, and selfhood while maintaining concealment under the guise of care, timing, or support.
