Co-Seismic Phase Transitions: Correlating DC Potential Decay with RF Pulse Onset as a Fracture Signature
Abstract
Current earthquake prediction methodologies struggle with high false-positive rates due to the difficulty of distinguishing genuine precursors from stochastic anthropogenic and atmospheric electromagnetic noise. This paper proposes a new multi-parameter signature based on the physics of rock fracture (fracto-emission). By correlating the saturation and subsequent decay of Pre-Seismic Direct Current (DC) Earth Potentials (the "loading" phase) with the immediate onset of Co-Seismic Radio Frequency (RF) Electromagnetic pulses (the "fracture" phase), we define a unique temporal "Phase Transition" signature. This approach aims to filter out environmental noise and identify the specific moment of crustal failure, effectively transforming earthquake forecasting from a probabilistic assessment into a deterministic trigger.
