Visibility-Based Structural Examination of Cloud-9: Consistency with Temperature-Dependent Gravitational Amplification in Baryonic Temperature-Dependent Gravity
Abstract
Baryonic Temperature-Dependent Gravity (BTDG) has previously been demonstrated to reproducegalactic rotation curves without invoking non-baryonic dark matter, motivating tests beyond rotationallysupported systems. In this work, a local, subgalactic consistency examination of BTDG is carried out usingthe cold, non-rotating gas Cloud-9 near M94 as a structurally simple test object. Interferometric visibilitydata are analyzed to directly measure and constrain the cloud’s angular size with minimal modeling assumptions. The analysis shows that a single-Gaussian structural model is strongly favored by informationcriteria, indicating a compact and well-defined morphology. The measured angular size is consistent withthe a priori structural range predicted by the temperature-dependent gravitational amplification in BTDG,without the introduction of adjustable halo masses or additional fit parameters. These results establish thelocal structural testability of BTDG in non-rotating baryonic systems, while any quantitative treatment ofcloud evolution or star formation lies beyond the scope of this work and is deferred to future studies.
