Abstract

This work provides a rigorous functional clarification of the inclined plane, arguably the most fundamental simple machine in classical mechanics. Despite 2,500 years of mechanical tradition focusing on force decomposition and mechanical advantage, theoretical literature has remained incomplete regarding the identification of the specific geometric element that performs the primary mechanical action. Applying the Minimal Mass/Maximum Action Axiom, the author demonstrates that the inclined surface geometry—the minimal mass interface—is the true functional primary element. While the base and support structures represent the majority of the system's mass, they serve only as auxiliary support. This analysis shifts the focus from "effort reduction" to "trajectory induction," revealing a universal organizational principle that governs mechanical efficiency. This paper is part of a systematic re-evaluation of classical machines, providing the theoretical foundation for the Law of Existence and its manifestation across multi-scale physical systems.
