Abstract

This work formalizes a universal constraint governing coherence in organized systems across physical, biological, social, and institutional domains. The Universal Law of Coherence Dynamics states that coherence can persist only while constraints remain transmissible under load; when constraint transmission fails, coherence degrades and systemic instability follows. The law is diagnostic rather than predictive: it does not forecast outcomes, assign causation, or prescribe decisions. Instead, it defines observer-invariant limits on sustained organization by identifying when fragmentation, opacity, and corrective escalation exceed a system’s capacity to maintain alignment. The framework is falsifiable, domain-agnostic, and grounded exclusively in externally observable evidence. It establishes coherence as a transitory property governed by constraint propagation rather than intent, intelligence, or equilibrium assumptions.
