Paper 51: A Unified Resonance Condition for Stable Fusion Plasma: A Corrected Derivation of the Critical Temperature and Resonance Density
Abstract
This paper presents a complete, first-principles derivation of the operational parameters for intrinsically stable, magnetically confined fusion plasma. It supersedes and corrects the preliminary models presented in earlier works (Paper #32, #33). We demonstrate that the stability of a plasma is governed by a unified resonance condition between three fundamental timescales: the ion gyration period (magnetic order), the ion plasma period (collective electric order), and the ion-ion collision time (thermal chaos). The stability condition is postulated as √(t_gyro · t_plasma) = t_coll. From this single, dimensionally consistent hypothesis, we derive two key parameters: 1. A critical temperature of T_crit ≈ 1.31 keV (for ITER-like parameters), which remarkably matches both the observed L-H mode transition threshold and the core temperature of the Sun. 2. A resonance density of n_res = ϵ_0B^2/(2m_iα^2_0), which is independent of temperature. Together, these two derived values define a specific, falsifiable ”island of stability” at (1.31 keV, 6.2 × 10^19 m^−3). This work provides a corrected, robust theoretical framework for achieving stable fusion via resonance tuning.
