Pauline Revelation and Galatians 2:21 From Individual Disclosure to Theological Rupture with the Law
Abstract
This paper presents an internal textual–structural analysis of Pauline revelation, focusing on Galatians 2:21 as a decisive theological statement. Without adopting historical–psychological approaches, the study examines the logical and theological consequences of Paul’s claim that his gospel was received through a direct, individual revelation independent of prior apostolic tradition. By comparing Paul’s position on the Law with the teaching of Jesus in the Synoptic Gospels and the theological practice of the Jerusalem Church, the paper argues that Galatians 2:21 represents not a rhetorical exaggeration but the logical culmination of a distinct revelatory structure. The study concludes that the Pauline formulation introduces a functional theological rupture with the Law, grounded in an individual revelatory authority rather than communal or transmitted tradition.
