Abstract

This script generates a synthetic slanted-edge image for modulation transfer function (MTF) validation in radiographic imaging systems. A binary edge is analytically defined on a highly oversampled grid and then binned to detector resolution, providing accurate pixel-aperture integration without large memory usage. An optional Gaussian blur can be applied in physical units to model additional system blur. The output is a 32-bit floating-point TIFF image suitable for use as a reference input in standard slanted-edge MTF analysis pipelines.
