Opportunities of non-invasive diagnostics in patients with non-alcoholic (metabolically associated) fatty liver disease
Abstract
This article presents research data on non-invasive diagnostics of metabolically associated fatty liver disease, focusing on the use of spleen elastometry as a prognostic criterion for esophageal variceal bleeding. An additional literature search was conducted in both Russian and English in databases such as PubMed and eLIBRARY using the following keywords: NAFLD/MAFLD, NASH/MASH, non-invasive diagnosis, liver elastometry, spleen elastometry. The aim of the study was to analyze the diagnostic significance of non-invasive research methods (liver and spleen stiffness indicators) for predicting the risk of clinically significant portal hypertension and selecting patients for esophagogastroduodenoscopy to assess the risk of decompensation, bleeding, and the need for treatment of esophageal varices in patients with compensated progressive chronic liver diseases associated with NAFLD/MAFLD.
