Abstract

ABSTRACTRegional economic development is an integral part of nationaldevelopment aimed at improving community welfare through theoptimization of regional economic potential, in which Gross RegionalDomestic Product (GRDP) is used as the main indicator to describe thestructure and performance of the regional economy. In this context, leading sectors play a strategic role as the main drivers of economicgrowth and the formation of a sustainable economic structure. Thisstudy aims to analyze leading sectors in regional development in BungoRegency based on GRDP for the period 2019-2024 and to identify therole and dynamics of economic sectors in supporting regional economicgrowth. This study employs a quantitative approach using GRDP data asthe basis of analysis, which are further analyzed using LocationQuotient (LQ), Dynamic Location Quotient (DLQ), and Klassen Typologyto identify comparative advantages, growth dynamics, and sectoralclassification. The results show that most economic sectors in BungoRegency are classified as base sectors with LQ values greater than one, indicating their important role in the regional economy. However, theDLQ results reveal that not all base sectors experience high growthrates, where the financial and insurance services sector, informationand communication sector, as well as the water supply and wastemanagement sector exhibit higher growth compared to similar sectorsat the provincial level. Based on Klassen Typology, Bungo Regency iscategorized as a fast-growing region with relatively high economicgrowth, while its per capita income remains below the provincialaverage. These findings provide important implications for localgovernments in determining development priorities that focus on thedevelopment of prospective and inclusive leading sectors. Keywords: Leading sectors, Regional economic development , andGross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP).
